Victorville drop in

I left Bakersfield's nostalgia drags early enough in the evening that I made it in time to see the Victorville main event. They were doing the "meet and greet" deal where the cars come out to the track front stretch during intermission and the fans can come out of the grandstands at no cost and go see the cars, drivers and crews. Pretty cool. I took a few pics, but night time stuff is not my expertise, so look at what I got, there wasn't much.

This is the meet and greet time and Ray Stansberry and Lance of SCRAFAN.COM are visiting.

After the fan fun, the cars are pushed back to the pits.

Ray Stansberry pushes his son Tom back to the pits.

Kenny Perkins is still meeting and greeting.

The tiny tots do their racing. The car in the inset was the winner of this entertaining event.

A dark view towards the pits.

One of the Williams brothers gets on the track.

Ronnie Gardner is ready to rock and roll. He started near the back and raced up to about 4th.

Tom Stansberry got to go to the back after an incident. He came back aways.

The feature starts with Heidi Tresler taking the early lead. She led 14 laps until rookie Johnny McCall passed her and went on to win.

The winner is struggling to get out of his burning car after slowing to a stop in front of the flagstand. He was desperately trying to stand up as the flames surrounded him. As he rolled to a stop infront of several officials, they did not immediately react, and it was probably a 15 second wait for the fire brigade to get there as hte flames licked up and he tried to get out. He didn't get out until the fire extinguisher was used . He was burned enough to go to a burn center.
